Project Description

Project location: Scarsdale, NY
Project type: Custom Home
Completion date: 2016
Architect: Brad DeMotte, R.A.

This is a 5000 SF house on a 1/2 acre lot designed for a young couple with 2 boys. It’s a classic center hall colonial with the main body of the house finished with stone veneer, while the garage & adjoining wing are finished with cedar clapboard siding. All windows on the main body of the house on the front elevation have precast concrete lintels & sills. The front entry was designed with square columns supporting a shed roof finished with standing copper copper, while the mud room entry is recessed so as not to compete with the front entry. The foyer, living room & dining room have paneled walls, making for an impressive entry. The kitchen, breakfast & family room are open to each other, with all opening onto to a south facing pergola covered bluestone terrace. Below this terrace is another terrace, partially submerged below grade. The second floor consists of a master bedroom suite along with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. A walk-up stair leads to the attic, which could possibly be finished in the future. The garage is a 2 story space, doubling as a basketball court & complete with a climbing wall & ropes. The basement consists of a play room, an exercise room, a study & another bedroom & bathroom.
