AIA Announces the Winners of the 2020 Regional & Urban Design Awards

This year the American Institute of Architects recognized four projects by Interboro Partners, Sasaki, the team of Swa/Balsley and Weiss/Manfredi Architecture/Landscape/Urbanism, and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill that represent "the best in urban design, regional and city planning and community development."

Today, the American Institute of Architects announced the winners of its 2020 Regional & Urban Design Awards, naming four projects that represent “the best in urban design, regional and city planning and community development,” according the a press release from the organization. This year’s winners were New York City–based Interboro Partners; Skidmore, Owings & Merrill; New York City–based Swa/Balsley and Weiss/Manfredi Architecture/Landscape/Urbanism; and the international firm Sasaki.

The jury for the 2020 Regional & Urban Design Awards comprised chair Carol Ross Barney, FAIA, founding design principal of Ross Barney Architects in Chicago; Jen Maigret, AIA, principal at Ply+ in Ann Arbor, Mich.; Nichole Wiedemann, AIA, associate professor of architecture at the University of Texas at Austin; Katherine Darnstadt, AIA, founding principal of Latent Design in Chicago; and David Kunselman, AIA, deputy director of capital development for the city of Seattle.
