AIA Maryland Honors Student Projects in Annual Design Awards Program

Nine years ago, the Maryland chapter of the AIA started the Student Design Awards in an effort to recognize exceptional work in the academic community, and create camaraderie with the architectural organization. The projects are given out in conjunction with the Design Awards program, which honors work by professionals.

To be eligible, students need to be enrolled in an architectural program at either a community college, college, or university in the state; or be Maryland residents and enrolled in a program elsewhere within the same academic year.

The jury bestowed awards and citations to 12 architecture students and student teams, chosen out of a total of 65 submissions. The six categories for include beginning design and upper level design for graduate students; beginning design and upper level design for undergraduate students; and hand delineation and design project for community college students.

Each winning student or student team received a $500 cash prize given out by Scott Knudson, AIA, president of AIA Maryland.
