Project Description

FROM THE AIA MARYLAND

This was the final month long project for the integrated design studio at University of Maryland. As a team of three students, we were tasked with creating the most environmentally sustainable building that demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of building systems, structure, and design. The only programmatic requirements were for a flexible office and research center.  We had the choice of three sites- Annapolis, Baltimore, and College Park. Our team chose the site in Baltimore because it seemed like it had both the biggest challenge and constraints – a small narrow strip of land- and the biggest opportunities – in a walkable sustainable urban environment.
