USGBC Accepting Proposals for Greenbuild 2011 Sessions

1 MIN READ

The USGBC is now soliciting proposals for the 2011 iteration of the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, to be held Oct. 5-7 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The organization also is accepting proposals for the Greenbuild Residential Summit and residential sessions at Greenbuild; the Greenbuild International Forum on Oct. 4 in Toronto; the thought leadership and research tracks during Greenbuild 2011; and a Government Summit to be held May 10-11 in Washington, DC.

Proposals must be received by 11:59 PST on Jan. 14, 2011. The first round of review is conducted by volunteers, and proposals are rated on a quantitative scale. In a second round, teams of topic experts will review the highest scored proposals from the first round, and in the third round, selected working groups will determine the final sessions for each program. After these three rounds of review, notification will go out regarding accepted sessions.

Session proposals must be submitted online and must be structured around one of the following:
– Proven performance
– Project has 12 months of occupancy data
– Challenges and failures in green building
– Person/human impact
– Cost/benefit analysis
– Forward thinking and visionary concepts

The conference theme for Greenbuild in 2011 is Greenbuild | NEXT. According to the USGBC, “Greenbuild NEXT comes at a moment in time when we have a sharp focus on building performance, regenerative buildings, quality green building education delivered in cutting-edge formats, a commitment to social equity that redefines not just our environment and economy but the fabric of society itself—in other words, we’re moving well beyond transforming just a marketplace. We’re answering the question: What comes next?”
