The National Roofing Contractors Association , Rosemont, Ill., has established the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing, a separate 501(c)(6) organization that promotes the development and use of environmentally responsible, high-performance roof systems. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the organization’s objectives are to coordinate and encourage unbiased roofing-related environmental research; serve as a repository for information pertaining to energy, the environment and roofing; expand market opportunities for roofing-material manufacturers, contractors and design consultants; participate in science-based advocacy on behalf of the roofing industry; and coordinate standards and codes in the U.S. and abroad.
