URA Pendant Lamps, Arturo Alvarez •Designed by Spanish lighting design studio Arturo Alvarez, this handcrafted pendant collection, is inspired by natural shapes. The URA collection is made from folded, painted, stainless steel mesh, and is available in a variety of colors: white, ochre, and green. This new collection includes three different lampshades shapes and sizes—URA 1 (9.4″ by 13″ diam. by 78.7″), URA 2 (16.5″ by 7.9″ diam. by 78.7″), and URA 3 (11″ by 19.7″ diam. by, 78.7″),—which can be installed individually, or in combination. The fixtures use either incandescent or LED sources. (Check respective product literature for lamping options.) •
Ayda Ayoubi is a former assistant editor of products and technology for ARCHITECT. She holds master degrees in urban ecological planning from Norwegian University of Science and Technology and in world heritage studies from Brandenburg University of Technology. In the past, she interned with UN-Habitat's New York liaison office and the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property in Rome.
