Syntheon accel-E Steel Thermal Efficient Panel (STEP)

The accel-E Steel Thermal Efficient Panel (STEP) wall system from Syntheon, a subsidiary of Nova Chemicals, now has a heavy-gauge upgrade option. STEP is manufactured by fusing cold-formed steel framing components and expandable polystyrene insulating panels together into a continuous system; in the new panel, the steel framing members are now heavy 16-gauge steel and 8″ thick, making them suitable for more commercial applications. STEP eliminates air infiltration and provides an energy envelope more efficient than that created by conventional framing and insulation. STEP is still offered in its original version, in 5-1/2″ and 8″ thicknesses. accel-e.com
