SURFACES 2011 Products: Day 1

Las Vegas, Nev.—Strolling the aisles at SURFACES 2011, the floor covering industry’s annual extravaganza, and StonExpo/Marmomacc, the largest international stone show in the U.S., a reporter could reasonably assume a few things: There is a mind-boggling variety of flooring options that consumers can use in their homes; the wood flooring industry, in particular, might be over saturated and in need of some consolidation; and wide-plank flooring is back!

Still, among the many (many) flooring products at this year’s show, a handful of very cool and unusual engineered wood products stood out, including a line of custom flooring that’s made to order any way you like and more than a few products made from salvaged wood. Here are some other products that stood out from day one.
