SSL Competition Recognizes Eight Manufacturers

1 MIN READ

Eight manufacturers have been recognized in Lighting for Tomorrow’s first solid-state lighting competition, which is organized by the American Lighting Association (ALA), the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE), and the U.S. Department of Energy (represented by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory).

The competition, geared to facilitate learning about the effective use of solid-state lighting, solicited fixtures that use LEDs as the sole light source. More than 30 entries were judged by a panel of six lighting experts and were rated according to application efficiency, overall lighting quality, aesthetic appearance, innovation, and thermal design.

The winning entries were a 5W undercabinet luminaire by American Fluorescent, an 18W undercabinet linear fixture by Lucere Lighting, a dimmable portable desk/task lamp by Lucesco, and a 3 1/2W outdoor luminaire by Progress Lighting. In addition, io Lighting, Albeo Lighting, American Lighting, and Osram Sylvania received honorable mentions.
