CalStar Products has created a masonry unit that performs like a concrete masonry unit (CMU) but has the aesthetic of brick masonry. With nominal sizes of 8″ by 4″ by 16″ and 12″ by 4″ by 16″, Thru-Wall Units are half as tall as typical CMUs. It comes with a flat finish face and a notched face to fill with mortar that emulates the look of brick. Made with a binder that contains 40% post-industrial recycled materials, the units do not require kiln-firing or Portland cement.
