Alvar Aalto co-founded Finnish manufacturer Artek to produce his then-radical, now-classic range of bentwood, birch-veneered furniture. Over the years, the company has sustained the spirit of innovation by commissioning pieces from Enzo Mari, Jørn Utzon, Shigeru Ban, and other freethinkers.
