PL Series, Marie Khouri

Vancouver, B.C., sculptor Marie Khouri was struck when Rem Koolhaas noted how Middle Eastern designers who are familiar with the Arabic script’s flourishes tend to share design sensibilities. “We … have these curvatures that appear in our work,” says Khouri, who herself is from the Middle East. The collection of five planters, ranging from 37.8″ by 23.6″ to 35.8″ by 59″—the designer’s first series to enter production—illustrate her sensual style.
