Maru by David Trubridge

A group of ocean microorganisms informed the elliptical shape of this decorative pendant.

Maru, David Trubridge
Inspired by diatoms—the group of microorganisms found in the ocean that generates 50 percent of the oxygen humans breathe—New Zealand–based designer David Trubridge has created Maru, an elliptical pendant made of 60 identical bamboo components. Maru uses LEDs to cast patterns of light and shadow on the ceiling. To be available in 43″ and 55″ diameters in 2019, the fixture is designed to ship in easy-to-assemble pieces in a flat pack. davidtrubridge.com
