GE Ecomagination Homebuilder Program

1 MIN READ

In May, GE and Masco Contractor Services’ (MCS) Environments for Living launched the Ecomagination Homebuilder Program, designed to help residential developers and builders design more energy-efficient homes.

According to the group, a home built to GE Ecomagination Homebuilder Program specifications should achieve at least 20 percent in energy savings, at least 20 percent savings on indoor water consumption, and at least 20 percent less emissions of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxide.

Among the program’s technology components are the New GE SmartCommand Dashboard, an interactive wall panel that provides feedback on electricity and water consumption; GE and GE Profile Energy Star appliances; a GE advanced lighting package, including compact fluorescent technology; and optional GE Brilliance Solar Electric Power Systems.

Last month, according to company officials, GE signed an agreement with RWO Acquisitions to build the first community under the GE Ecomagination program in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The 900-acre residential community is being developed by RWO under the direction of the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base Redevelopment Authority.
