Floating beds that deliver high-end design

Under-bed space is routinely zoned for storage, dirty socks, and long-lost personal items. Yet Parisian firm Dolum’s line of architectural “floating” beds—now spruced up with the company’s new Urban fabric family—bucks tradition by keeping the space open, sharpening the bed’s lines and transforming it into a high-end design element. The beds—designed for residential use—are meant to be suspended about 15 inches above the floor and can be secured to any universal freestanding structure, including concrete, beam, cinder block, brick, and wood. With the ability to support up to nearly 900 pounds, attachment to the loadbearing wall is not necessary in certain applications, according to the company. The bed comes in square, round, rectangle, oval, and angled profiles, and in single, double, queen, and king dimensions.
