GreenFormat, the free, Web-based database of green product information developed by the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), has gone live at www.greenformat.com. The new CSI format provides a standardized framework for identifying building product sustainability information, organized by its MasterFormat divisions to ensure product search results are spec-friendly.
According to CSI, building product manufacturers enter products into the database, answering questions about their products’ sustainable properties. The online questionnaire requires manufacturers to provide information on compliance with standards and certifications to verify sustainability claims. GreenFormat incorporates LEED Green Building Rating System requirements, among others, to help specifiers achieve green project goals. The database will be continuously updated. Search results are downloadable.
