Coming Soon: National Gypsum’s Phase-Changing Drywall

A phase-changing core from BASF allows National Gypsum’s ThermalCore panels to moderate interior temperature fluctuations and act as a thermal mass. The Micronal PCM paraffin wax in the panel’s core changes from solid to liquid when it reaches 73 degrees; this causes it to absorb heat when it isn’t needed in the space, and then release it when the temperature drops. The sheets install and finish the same as traditional drywall. National Gypsum anticipates ThermalCore will be available in early 2011. www.thermalcore.info.
