Inspired by the weathering and oxidation of metal surfaces, Patcraft’s Artefact collection of modular carpet tiles mimics the rustic and distressed look of industrial surfaces. The Patcraft team took its design inspiration from an oxidation experiment in which it exposed an array of cotton, wool, linen, and silk fabrics to rust, water, and scrap metal objects over a course of six weeks. Using a resist-dying technique (a traditional method used for applying patterns to textiles), the team then created a variety of patterns and colors, varying in scale, tint, and saturation. The 12″-by-48″ planks are available with a multi-level pattern loop and come with a backing made of Eco Solution Q Nylon and Eco Worx. Available in four patterns and 10 colorways. Cradle to Cradle–certified Silver. patcraft.com
