aluminum remix

TANNERHECHT likes the inherent “depth and texture” of Alkemi recycled aluminum solid surfacing (seen here in one of the firm’s projects). “This is a good use of postindustrial scrap and looks great,” Hecht says. Made from 60 percent (by volume) post-industrial fine-flake aluminum scrap and polymeric resin, the material can be sanded and buffed to a matte or high-gloss finish. Sheets measure 3 feet wide by 8 feet or 10 feet long. Renewed Materials, 877.462.6020; www.renewedmaterials.com.
