The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) reported that the Electroindustry Business Conditions Index (ECBI), a broad category that focuses on North American electrical industry manufacturers, rebounded from a three-month slump. The July report reversed recent trends by increasing by more than 20 points, rising to 67.5 from the previous month’s score of 47.2.
The report is based off of responses by panelists, senior managers at NEMA member companies, who predict future business conditions. The results of the survey revealed that 10 percent of panelists think that business conditions have worsened in July compared to the previous month, while an equal share (45 percent) reported improved or unchanged conditions. Half of the panelists believe that future business conditions will remain fixed, 30 percent think they will improve, and 20 percent predict they will decline.
