NEMA Publishes New Standard

1 MIN READ

Revised to address concerns raised by the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Electrical Manufacturer’s Association (NEMA) has published TP 2-2005, providing a standardized test method for measuring the energy consumption of distribution transformers. This document will assist manufacturers in achieving the energy efficiency levels outlined in TP 1, NEMA’s guide for determining energy efficiency for distribution transformers. It will also be adopted as the Department of Energy’s test procedure.

TP 2-2005, according to Kyle Pitsor, NEMA’s vice president of government relations, ‘is specifically required for new federal energy efficiency standards’ under the original Energy Policy and Conservation Act. For more information, visit www.nema.org.
