Lighting controls maker Leviton announced on Sept. 9 its acquisition of the Englewood, Colo.-based Bitwise Controls, which makes smart control and monitoring products for residential and commercial applications. The addition of the six-year-old BitWise formally brings the company’s customizable audio/visual controls into Leviton’s portfolio, according to a company press release, which notes that Leviton has already been carrying BitWise’s automation controllers.
BitWise’s full line, which is particularly notable for its iOS and Android control graphical user interfaces (GUIs), will be integrated with Leviton’s product family while retaining the BitWise product branding. BitWise’s recent launches include a conventional-style room remote that syncs with the company’s control apps for iOS and Android devices as well as a GUI that can manage Nest Labs’ Learning Thermostat. Additionally, Leviton will adopt the BitWise app for its OmniTouch 7 in applications requiring fixed touchscreens.
The news comes slightly more than a month after the company bought ClickOn Technology, a maker of residential and commercial automation controls based in South Africa, continuing its trend of growth-through-acquisition.
Additional terms of the BitWise deal were not disclosed.
