The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) has announced the appointment of Timothy Licitra as Executive Vice President, effective Oct. 19, 2015. Licitra succeeds William Hanley, who retired in December 2014.
According to the IES press release, “Licitra will be responsible for the overall management of IES, implementing organizational strategy, leading IES staff and volunteers, managing operational priorities and programs, and developing and implementing IES’s relevant plans and policies, all designed to meet the needs of the Society’s members”
Prior to joining the IES, Licitra was the Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer at the Market Technicians Association (MTA), a $2 million global association of financial industry professionals. MTA has more than 4,500 members across 85 countries. In his capacity as MTA CEO, Licitra was responsible for staff leadership, board governance, strategic planning, budget and financial management, and managing volunteer engagement and leadership development.

The search effort for a new executive vice president was conducted over a four–month period by a six–member committee that was appointed by the IES Board. The IES was assisted in its recruitment process by Washington, D.C.–based executive search firm Sterling Martin Associates.
