IALD Takes Position on Incandescent Bans

1 MIN READ

The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) recently issued a position statement on the issue of incandescent bulb bans. The IALD says it strongly supports development and use of technologies, methods, and appropriate regulation to minimize the energy use of lighting systems, but believes that any legislation that seeks to phase out certain types of incandescent lamps (as recently enacted energy legislation does) will ultimately be ineffective. The organization offers several points in their argument against phasing out incandescent lamps, including the fact that currently there is no replacement technology for certain incandescent types and applications.
