The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and the Lighting Industry Resource Council (LIRC) have released an updated version of the Guidelines for Specification Integrity document. The 2017 Pilot Edition aids lighting designers, at all experience levels, in the lighting product specification process and highlights the critical issues involved in this process. Special attention is paid to the issues that can arise at specific moments in the overall construction process and provides recommended practices to address them.

This latest edition takes advantage of online resources and is meant to be a continually updated resource. (Previously, the document was issued in 2002, 2005, and 2009.) The publication can be downloaded at iald.me/specinteg-2017pilot and has internal links and references. The IALD and LIRC also request that as members review the document, they share “any additional checklists, examples, stories, or suggestions from [their] practice.” All comments and suggestions should be sent to IALD Public Policy consultant John Martin at john@iald.org. For more information about the guidelines go to, iald.me/2hrP6Wy.
