EPA Extends Comment Period for Energy Star Requirements for the Use of LM-80 Data

Comment period has been extended to Dec. 9, 2016.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued the following notice regarding the deadline extension for stakeholder review of update to LM-80 document:

Dear ENERGY STAR® Lighting Partner or other Interested Stakeholder:

In response to stakeholder request, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is extending the comment deadline for the ENERGY STAR Requirements for the Use of LM-80 Data to Friday, December 9, 2016. The document, along with an accompanying cover memo, is available on the ENERGY STAR Version 2.0 Luminaires page here. Once final, this document will replace the ENERGY STAR Program Guidance Regarding LED Package, LED Array and LED Module Lumen Maintenance Performance Data Supporting Qualification of Lighting Products dated September 9, 2011.

Partners and stakeholders are encouraged to submit comments on the document to Lighting@energystar.gov by Friday December 9, 2016. Please indicate “Comments – ENERGY STAR Requirements for the Use of LM-80 Data” in the email subject line. Please note that comments received will be posted to the ENERGY STAR website unless marked “Do Not Post” or similar request.

Elizabeth Donoff is Editor-at-Large of Architectural Lighting (AL). She served as Editor-in-Chief from 2006 to 2017. Over the past 11 years, under her editorial direction, Architectural Lighting has received a number of prestigious B2B journalism awards. In 2017, Architectural Lighting was a Top Ten Finalist for Magazine of the Year from the American Society of Business Publication Editors' AZBEE Awards. In 2016, Donoff received the Jesse H. Neal Award for her Editor’s Comments in the category of Best Commentary/Blog, and in 2015, AL received a Jesse H. Neal Award for Best Media Brand (Overall Editorial Excellence).Prior to her entry into design journalism, Donoff worked in New York City architectural offices including FXFowle where she was part of the project teams for the Reuters Building at Three Times Square and the New York Times Headquarters. She is a graduate of Bates College in Lewiston, Me., and she earned her Master of Architecture degree from the School of Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis.
