The U.S. DOE has awarded five Small Business Innovation Research grants for its “Solid State Lighting—Core Technologies Area of Interest 6: Strategies for improved light extraction of OLEDs” research program, which is focused on development of organic light emitting diodes (OLED).

Grant recipients are tasked primarily with improving OLED device efficiency and light extraction, with secondary goals of improving device stability, luminance, and cost. Universal Display Corp. has received two grants to fund two proposed projects; Add-Vision Inc., Alameda Applied Sciences Corp., and Nanomaterials and Nanofabrication Laboratories also have received grants under this program.
