Deadlines are approaching for a handful of IALD and IES events

  • The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) is accepting nominations for IES Fellow status. The designation will be awarded to a member who has contributed to the technical activities of the organization, to the art or science of illumination, or to the related scientific and engineering fields. More information and candidate guidelines are online.
  • The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) is looking for field experts to present workshops and seminars at Enlighten Americas 2009 and Enlighten Europe 2010. The conferences will revolve around the theme “Leading With Light,” and the deadline for submissions is March 31. Enlighten Americas 2009 will be held Oct. 8-10 in California, and Enlighten Europe 2010 will be Feb. 3-4 in London. The Call for Presentations document and more information is available online.
  • The IALD Education Trust announces the Thomas M. Lemons Scholarship, established through the lighting design firm Available Light. The scholarship application is due March 13. To be eligible, the student must be committed to studying and practicing in the lighting design field in the United States and must be a U.S. citizen. The $4,000 scholarship will be awarded during the IALD Education Trust benefit dinner on May 6 during Lightfair.
