Jeff Milham, president of the Nuckolls Fund for Lighting Education announced changes to the fund’s Board of Directors during the annual luncheon held during Lightfair, which this year took place on May 5 in New York City. Board members Frank Conti and Fred Oberkircher are retiring and design educator Katherine Ankerson is joining the board.

Conti, founder and CEO of New York-based Enterprise Lighting Sales, has been a Nuckolls Fund Board member for 22 years. He has actively supported the lighting community with his philanthropy and volunteer leadership roles with the New York City Section of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and the Designers Lighting Forum of New York.

Oberkircher, Emeritus Associate Professor at Texas Christian University, where he taught lighting design for 35 years, joined the Nuckolls Fund Board in 1999. An active member of the lighting community, Oberkircher served as IES national president from 2009 to 2010 and has lectured widely at lighting industry events.

Filling one of the vacant board positions is Katherine S. Ankerson, head of the department and professor of Interior Architecture and Product Design, at Kansas State University. She is the past recipient of the 2010 $50,000 Nuckolls Fund Twentieth Anniversary Grant that allowed her to develop the lighting curricula program of teaching modules for lighting educators titled “Lighting across the Design Curriculum.”

The Nuckolls Fund for Lighting Education was established in 1989 in honor of the late lighting designer and educator, James L. Nuckolls. The fund advances college-level lighting education in North America with annual financial grants and awards.
