Barron Lighting Group Acquires Growlite

The acquisition expands Barron’s push into horticulture lighting.

Glendale, Ariz.-based Barron Lighting Group has announced its acquisition of Growlite, a manufacturer of horticulture lighting products. This expands Barron’s overall portfolio of high-intensity discharge (HID) and LED lighting products, and in particular advances the company’s Indoor Grow Science brand, which it launched in 2014.

“Barron made the investment in the horticultural lighting industry three years ago by launching Indoor Grow Science and partnering with Growlite. With this expansion and formalization of our relationship, we are replacing the Indoor Grow Science brand name with Growlite,” said Alan Tracy, owner, and president of Barron Lighting Group in a prepared statement.

According to the Barron press release, the horticulture lighting market, which includes the commercial greenhouse market and the legal cannabis industry, is expected to reach $8 billion in 2017 and $15 billion by 2020. In 2015, the legal cannabis industry was $4.9 billion; it is expected to reach almost $35 billion by 2020. Combined, these two agriculture markets, which rely on specialized grow lighting technologies, could exceed $50 billion by 2020.

Barron Lighting Group is known for its LED and HID fixtures for commercial and industrial applications including exit and emergency lighting solutions with its Exitronix brand our outdoor lighting with its and TraceLite brand.
