The Amsterdam Light Festival is now accepting submissions for the 2017-2017 edition of the event. Artists, designers, engineers. architects, and students are invited to submit their creative ideas for the festival theme: EXISTENTIAL.

Installations are designed to take advantage of the city’s canals and waterfront venues along the festivals two routes: The Water Colors boat tour and the Illuminade walking route.

For the boat route, the festival organizers “…are looking for monumental proposals on, above or in the water that connect with the city, its inhabitants, and its visitors.” For the walking route, the festival organizers “…hope to see beautiful interpretations and installations that bring the EXISTENTIAL qualities of light back to the basics and provide a stage for natural miracles and occurrences. We are looking for artworks that you can touch, walk through, connect with and react to.”

January 31, 2017 (11:00 CET) is the deadline for submissions for Round 1 – Curatorial Selection. Individuals will be notified on Feb. 17, 2017 if their proposal has advanced to Round 2. For full details, schedule, and entry form go to the festival website. Questions can be addressed to the festival organizers at cfc@amsterdamlightfestival.com.
