1 MIN READ

The 2012 Next Generation Luminaires (NGL) Solid-State Lighting (SSL) Competition is officially open. Major change for 2012: The competition, to better respond to the differences in lighting applications, is now divided into two-one for Indoor and one for Outdoor. First up, the 2012 NGL Indoor SSL Design Competition. Entrants must send written intents to submit by Dec. 16. Submissions are due on Jan. 18, and winners will be announced at Lightfair in Las Vegas in May 2012. Sponsored by the U.S. Dept. of Energy, the International Association of Lighting Designers, and the Illuminating Engineering Society, the competitions recognize design excellence in the field of commercial LED luminaires. Last year’s competition featured 133 entries and four “Best in Class” winners. For full competition details go to ngldc.org.
