In two weeks, the green-building community will take over Toronto, Ontario, Canada for a nonstop week of networking, learning, and exploring—a sustainability bonanza otherwise known as Greenbuild International Conference and Expo. I can’t wait as Toronto is my hometown. I’ve spent the past couple of weeks making plans, scouring the education session schedule and planning booth visits in any spare time (via the interactive floorplan), not to mention making reservations at some great downtown restaurants, rereading Thomas Friedman’s Hot, Flat, and Crowded, and listening to an old Maroon 5 CD to brush up on some lyrics for the opening celebration.As you start to plan your Greenbuild schedule, we invite you to pencil in some time for lunch on our tab. This year, as in the past, ECO-STRUCTURE will be hosting a luncheon to celebrate the latest winners of our annual Evergreen Awards. Our issue featuring the 2011 winners hits mailboxes in the next week and we’ll gather them in person on Thurs., Oct. 6 at the Fairmont Royal York hotel. If you are an architect, building manager, contractor, or designer who focuses on green building, we welcome you to join us from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Give your feet a break, get a hot meal instead of a boxed lunch, schmooze a bit and ogle some great projects.
