Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Challenge Under Way

The competition aims to inspire safe and healthy materials for affordable homes.

1 MIN READ

In a first-ever awards program, the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute is challenging companies to design products for the affordable housing market that meet Cradle to Cradle program criteria. The Product Innovation Challenge will award a total of $250,000 to three winners: $125,000 for grand, $75,000 for second place, and $50,000 for third place. Partnering with the Make It Right Foundation, the Institute’s goal is to drive innovation in safe and healthy building materials based on Cradle to Cradle principles.

The winning products will be superior in their concern for human health, have a positive environmental impact, and be designed for reuse. The goal is to inspire manufacturers to rethink common materials such as PVC-based products, drywall, coatings and finishes, and products such as home furnishings.

Submissions are due no later than June 30. Winners will be announced at Greenbuild in November. Click here for full contest details.
