BuildingGreen, Healthy Building Network Join Forces

Partnership between publisher of the GreenSpec Directory and the creator of the Pharos Project is expected to increase the depth and scope of each group’s green product and material evaluation tools.

BuildingGreen and the Healthy Building Network (HBN), two of the industry’s most respected organizations providing independent green product research, announced a partnership at Greenbuild to link their product evaluation and selection tools—the GreenSpec Directory and the Pharos Project.

Published by BuildingGreen’s Environmental Building News, the GreenSpec Directory is a comprehensive, vetted guide of more than 2,100 green building products. The Pharos Lens evaluates and compares products under 16 attributes and provides subscribers with an extremely deep dive into the origins and potential hazards of each product’s raw materials and chemical makeup.

The collaboration will provide users with easy access to both selection tools and is anticipated to help both groups increase the size, scope, and speed of product research, according to a statement from HBN’s Bill Walsh.

“Together, we are committed to ensuring that there is a strong, independent resource for specifying green building products—today, tomorrow, and for the future,” EBN publisher Alex Wilson said in an announcement. “This will be even more important as the number of green products and environmental claims continue to grow exponentially.”

The combined tools can be reached at GreenSpecPharos.com. A 30-day trial is available.
