Though it sometimes seems that carpet, vinyl, and wood are the only flooring options, alternatives do exist. BioFelt from Chilewich’s Contract Collection is a PVC-free tile-backing system with 82% recycled content. It’s designed to be specified with the company’s low-VOC Plynyl tile. BioFelt can be installed with adhesives or Velcro Brand Hook Squares, a modular flooring installation system that connects each tile to another tile, as well as to the floor using Velcro. The latter allows for installation on raised floors or other surfaces where adhesives would not be functional or desirable. chilewich.com/contract
