Autodesk Examines The Challenges Of Retrofitting With An Online Game

1 MIN READ

Much of the green building community is aware that buildings continue to be the top source of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States. But, according to Autodesk, only 5 percent of Americans are aware of this. To help educate both those in the building and design fields as well as the general public, the software company has created RETROFITS, a free online game that focuses on retrofitting and its impact on energy efficiency.

The game, accessible at www.autodesk.com/retrofits is a two-level challenge that combines fast-action tasks with quiz show elements. Players alternate between completing timed retrofitting tasks to a building, such as replacing window panes, adding light shelves and installing solar panels, with quizzes testing their knowledge on energy efficiency. Points are awarded for speed and accuracy, respectively, and both the quiz component the retrofitting exercise have three levels of increasingly difficulty.
