Project Description

A thoughtful design elevates The Yates Pavilion above the customary “gymnasium box”. The carefully crafted exterior and lighting environment reflect the school’s passion for sports. Tilt up concrete panels were utilized for the gym wall structure due to their speed of erection and cost effectiveness. A customized pattern of inset panels and reveals was incorporated to articulate the monolithic concrete wall surface. Internal insulation contributes to the building envelope performance and LEED Gold certification. Polycarbonate panels at the north and south faces of the building provide ample day lighting and are tuned to ensure even light distribution across the day. In the evening, when most games are played, the glow from the gym expresses the activity within.
