Project Description

The Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort, Bonnet Creek is a 350,000-square-foot, multi-building hotel and timeshare resort situated around a ten-acre body of water in Orlando, Florida. The four-and-a-half star flagship Wyndham hotel and spa on the resort grounds includes a 400-room hotel, full-service restaurants, 43,000 square feet of meeting and conference space, and a 25,000-square-foot luxury spa and health club. Baskervill completed interior architecture and design of the property.

The design inspiration is loosely based on the legend of Juan Ponce De Leon’s quest for the Fountain of Youth. To incorporate the adventurous feel of the explorer’s voyage while creating an upscale resort, elements of modern materials were intermingled with the traditional Spanish- Mediterranean architecture of the building’s interior and exterior. The design challenge was to keep the story fresh and clear to the guests, while offering modern-day luxuries and creating a multi-layered aesthetic experience. Subtle aspects of the story are woven throughout the hotel’s lavish spaces and details; the lobby showcases an over-sized compass rose facing true north – a nod to the explorer’s navigational tools, made
present with the use of contemporary, metallic stone tiles.
