Project Description

FROM THE ARCHITECTS:

Upstate house is a modest retreat for a young professional couple. The house embodies the dual desires of the couple to have a rustic cabin and a modern, comfortable home.

Situated in a clearing on a large, wooded lot, the house's silhouette emerged from extensive experiments in figuration, projection and frontality. Typological elements from cabins and modern pavilion dwellings were combined to produce a house that is simultaneously familiar and alien.

A master suite and living room are lofted above an open floor plan which contains a modest kitchen and large dining area for entertaining.
