Hollywood, CA based architecture and planning studio, 5+design, receives three consecutive top honors at ICSC Global Awards for ICSC US, China, and Europe. The studio’s latest expansion project for central Beijing’s China World Mall was the first recognized by ICSC Global, receiving the Gold Award for best Development and Design in the Renovation/Expansion category for ICSC China. This win was followed by the Optimum Izmir project, which won the Gold for Refurbishment/Expansions at the European Awards and finally the Torrance, CA based Del Amo Fashion Center, winning Gold within the US for the same category. These three prestigious awards highlight a long history in retail design that is at the heart of the 5+ approach. While the firm works within a number of realms including urban planning, mixed-use, and residential, their roots in retail create a unique lens which they bring to each project. ICSC Global Awards recognize achievements in Design & Development, Retail Store Design, and marketing across 8 regions. These highly competitive awards are announced at ceremonies held during top retail property conferences worldwide, including MAPIC, RECon and CenterBuild. Winners from each region become eligible for the VIVA (Vision, Innovation, Value & Achievement) Best-of-the-Best Awards, which recognizes the most outstanding projects worldwide. 5+design’s Del Amo Fashion Center goes on to be considered for the 2019 Viva Awards to be announced in May of next year. This string of accolades marks the end of a successful year for the 5+ team, who took home several awards and shortlist placements around the world including AIA Shanghai, Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, Retail and Leisure Innovation, World Architecture Festival, International Design Awards, and more. Rounding out the year, 5+ focus on carrying the collective creativity and synergy established to make each project possible into the new year.
