Project Description

The new Roslin Institute will undertake top-class basic and translational science to tackle some of the most pressing issues in animal health and welfare, including implications for human health.

This co-location project, involving the Roslin Institute, the Moredun Group, the Scottish Agricultural College, and the Royal Veterinary School of the University of Edinburgh, promotes interaction between research teams and individuals both inside the facility and at the adjacent Vet School and Hospital.

In a DNA-inspired design, an interactive atrium links the linear “strands,” one housing laboratories and a parallel one housing offices.

Natural ventilation throughout the offices enhances the quality of the internal environment and significantly reduces the building’s energy consumption and carbon footprint.
