Project Description

The Matchbox House is a small 4 bedroom home tucked into the woods near Ann Arbor, Michigan. The house, in elevation, is meant to recall an iconic, 4 sided house, with the fifth side (the bottom) articulated because the house is raised on a concrete plinth. In plan, the house resembles a “matchbox”, where an exterior sleeve and an interior sleeve (in this case, 4 quadrant interior sleeves) function and read separately from each other.
