Project Description

As Denver International Airport (DEN) is undergoing massive changes and expanding its gates, Southwest Airlines (Southwest) deemed it necessary to construct a new aircraft maintenance center to accommodate the airport’s growth as well as improve their own aircraft maintenance operations.

Based on Southwest’s operational needs, Ghafari’s team designed an open-bay hangar and support center with flexible space capable of servicing multiple aircraft. We also tailored the facility design to accommodate future expansion and further support Southwest and DEN’s master plan.

As this station will mainly serve as a RON (Remain Over Night) and hold planes for longer durations, the support areas were designed to facilitate variable maintenance operations. All aircraft types are anticipated to be serviced per FAA regulations and Southwest’s maintenance program.

This facility is another step forward in implementing Southwest’s next-generation operations that will support the strength and dedication of their growing Denver-based employees and partners.
