Project Description
The key goal for the Center for Integrated Proteomics Research (CIPR) is to support the integration of academic and research activity related to proteomics work on campus.
The project houses a ‘pipeline’ of proteomic activities ranging from basic research to characterization and analysis to creation of data, whose components are currently scattered in different locations on campus.
The CIPR promotes collaboration and new types of interdisciplinary work, such as the integration of biological and physical sciences and the blending of computational with experimental biology. The ground floor houses the facility imaging suites, including Mass Spectrometry, X‐Ray Crystallography, Cryo‐Electron Microscope Suite with two scopes, and a 3,400 sf Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Suite with seven magnets. The facility also houses The BioMaPS Institute for Quantitative Biology, which aims to promote research and education at the research of biological, mathematical and physical biology.
The goal of this project was to integrated different research departments from multiples buildings across campus into one unified facility. The Protein Data Bank required massive computing and connectivity, which is due to their connections and partners around the globe.
