Project Description

FROM THE ARCHITECTS:

In response to increased capacity demands in the rapidly growing Berkeley County region, Hord Coplan Macht worked with Roper St. Francis Healthcare to identify strategic growth opportunities for inpatient, emergency, surgical, and ambulatory services.

A four-story expansion will house a first-floor expansion and renovation to the emergency department, imaging department, and surgical services. The project will also include expansion and renovation to the sterile processing and prep, PACU, and recovery spaces, as well as expansion to support services, including registration, dining, loading dock, morgue, and related ancillary spaces. The second the third floors of the new facility will house 58 inpatient beds, and shell space on the fourth floor is planned for a future inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Renovation to vacated inpatient units on the third floor of the existing building will provide for a new observation unit.

Work also includes a single-story expansion between the existing hospital and medical office building to house ancillary departments, including the relocation and enlargement of the existing laboratory and pharmacy.
