Project Description

The Research and Innovation Center in Palo Alto (RIC-PA) is growing the company’s global research team and accelerating its innovation in connectivity, mobility, autonomous vehicles, customer experience and big data.

To support the growth of the program and to increase the presence of RIC-PA in Silicon Valley, they expanded their facility across the street. This RIC-PA expansion project is the fit-out of two existing structures on one property, which totals 150,000 SF. Both buildings have two floors with the second building having a partially buried underground garage. The program includes tech shop, machine shop, fabrication space, assembly space, as well as laboratory and office.

The design of the facility focuses on fostering creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. The spaces are created to encourage collegial interactions, and culture of design and hacking that will generate new perspectives among the talented diverse staff. Open floor plans and transparency help to inspire collaborative creativity and a brainstorming culture that is dynamic and fluid, thus supporting the ideology of the RIC-PA.
