Project Description

Procore Technologies is a construction software management company that continually looks to improve the way construction is managed through the use of technology. As a relatively young company, it has experienced tremendous growth in recent years and engaged HLW’s Los Angeles team to help shape and express their culture through the design of their space. The renovation project of the oldest building on Procore’s oceanfront office campus, which now stands as their global headquarters, is intended to serve as the front door for visitors providing a wow-factor as well as being welcoming and inviting for visitors and staff alike.

To make the space both intentional, uplifting and welcoming, HLW’s Los Angeles team established a planning principle of accentuating views to provide orientation, connection to the outdoors and drama. Keeping a primary view corridor open from the front entry door through to the other side of the building provides a clear and powerful organizing element that is all at once airy, open, inviting and fresh. A visitor greeted with the ocean view immediately feels the vitality of the organization and its respect for people, nature and the built environment. Underscoring the connection with the outdoors, HLW’s design scheme takes advantage of the beautiful campus site, providing plenty of access to outdoor spaces and natural light. It was also important to Procore that HLW provided a variety of work areas for employees beyond their assigned desks. Procore employees are mobile, agile and paperless, and each different unique workplace setting throughout their space is well suited to their needs and moods.

Moreover, Procore is a company on the move, always evolving. They are invested in employees and value openness and optimism. HLW’s Los Angeles team developed a creative strategy from their initial concept and program that easily lends itself to additional office locations. HLW’s Los Angeles team has continued to work with Procore on other spaces throughout the country and are still refining and updating their programmatic requirements. Understanding that design is an ongoing learning process, Procore has used this project to serve as a performance indicator of their company.
