Project Description

FROM THE ARCHITECTS:

Planned Parenthood of New York City sought an open, light-filled, uplifting reproductive health facility that would be an expression of the future of the organization, welcome the diverse residents of the borough, evoke respect for patient dignity and individual reproductive health choice, and provide an excellent patient experience, particularly for the youth in the borough. Simple, clean and logical floor plans provide an efficient and easy patient flow while maximizing the limited light. Waiting rooms with large windows are located on the front façade and fire stairs are transformed into open, spatially delightful communicating stairs with fire-rated glass, natural light, bright colors and custom graphics. Taking advantage of a zoning set-back, the recovery room is naturally lit by skylights. The sleek, white aesthetic is punctuated with a bold color system and custom graphics. The calm and spirited architecture offers an uplifting experience for patients and staff and serves as a model for future reproductive health facilities.
